Sides of the rectangle are in the ratio of 4:5

Let the length l=5x

and the breadth b=4x

Now, perimeter =2(l+b)=90cm

2(5x+4x)=90

2(9x)=90

18x=90

x=5

Therefore, Length l=5x=25cm

and the breadth b=4x=20cm

Answer:

Area of the rectangle = 375cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The sides of a rectangle are in the ratio 5:3

Perimeter of the rectangle is 80cm

To find,

The area of the rectangle

Recall the formula

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length +breadth)

Area of a rectangle = length × breadth

Solution:

Since, the sides of the rectangle are in the ratio 5:3, the sides are

5x and 3x

Since the perimeter of the rectangle is 80cm, we have

2(length +breadth) = 80

2(5x+3x) = 80

5x+3x = 40

8x = 40

x = 5

Hence the sides of the rectangle are 5×5, and 3×5

= 25cm and 15cm

Area of the rectangle = length ×breadth

= 25×15

= 375cm²

∴Area of the rectangle = 375cm²
