The significance of primitive accumulation in formation of capitalism

Primitive Accumulation. At any given time, the accumulation of capital depends on some already existing capital to invest in the production process. Therefore, it appears that the capitalist mode of production as a historical formation presupposes some “original” or “primitive” accumulation.
