Answer:

The interest of Rs. 800 for 3 years = Rs. 180

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The  simple interest of Rs. 200 for 4 years = Rs. 60

To find,

The interest of Rs. 800 for 3 years with the same rate

Recall the formula,

Simple interest = S.I = \frac{PTR}{100} ---------------------(1)

where P is the principal, T is the time period and R is the rate of interest

Solution:

Since The  simple interest of Rs. 200 for 4 years = Rs. 60, we have

Principal = P= 200

Time = 4 years

Simple Interest = S.I = 60

Substituting these values in equation (1) we get

60 = \frac{200X 4XR}{100}

800R = 6000

R = \frac{6000}{800}

= 7.5%

∴ Rate of interest = 7.5%

We need to find the interest of Rs. 800 for 3 years with rate 7.5%

here,

Principal = P = 800

Time = 3 years

Rate of interest = 7.5%

Substituting in equation (1) we get

Simple interest = \frac{800X 4X7.5}{100}

= 8×3×7.5

= 180

The interest of Rs. 800 for 3 years = Rs. 180
