We know the cacilation of SI = P× R ×T / 100

Simple interest on 5 years at the rate of 6 %  is equal to ( Rs 120 + Simple interest of 2 years at the rate of 5 %.)

S I = P × R ×T / 100

120 + ( P × R ×T / 100 ) = P × R ×T / 100

120 + ( x × 5 ×2 / 100 ) =  x × 6 ×5 / 100

120 + ( 10 x / 100 ) = 30 x / 100

120 = 30x /100 - 10 x /100

120 = 20 x / 100

120 × 100 = 20x

12000 = 20x

12000 / 20 = x

600 = x

Hence principal is 600
