Required Answer:-

Given:

  • The simple interest on a certain sum of money for 5years at 10% p.a. is ₹880.0 more than SI on the same sum at 7% p.a. for 4 years.

To find:

  • The sum (i.e, the Principal)

Solution:

Let the sum be ₹x.

Therefore,

Interest on ₹x for 5 years at 10%p.a.

= (x × 5 × 10)/100

= ₹x/2

Interest on ₹x for 4 years at 10%p.a.

= (x × 7 × 4)/100

= ₹7x/25

Now, according to the given condition,

➡ x/2 - 7x/25 = 880

➡ (25x - 14x)/50 = 880

➡ 11x/50 = 880

➡ x = 880 × 50/11

➡ x = 80 × 50

➡ x = ₹4000

Hence, the Principal amount is ₹4000

Answer:

  • The Principal amount is ₹4000

Formula to calculate SI and Amount:

  • SI = (P*R*T)/100
  • A = P + SI
