We have,

  • To insert 6 rational numbers between (-2)/5 and 1/2

Here,

  • Making denominators equal,

 \bf \large \dag \:  \:  \frac{ - 2}{5}  \times  \frac{2}{2}  =   \frac{ - 4}{10}

\bf \large \dag \:  \:  \frac{1}{2} \times  \frac{5}{5}  =  \frac{5}{10}

Now,

Rational numbers between (-4)/10 & 5/10 can be,

 \frac{ - 3 }{10}   <   \frac{ - 2}{10}   <  .......  <  \frac{3}{10}   <   \frac{4}{10}

Thus,

▪ Six rational numbers lying between (-2)/5 and 1/2 are -

 \sf \to \frac{ - 2}{10} , \frac{0}{10} , \frac{1}{10} , \frac{2}{10} , \frac{3}{10} , \frac{4}{10}  \\  \\  \boxed{  \tt\to \frac{ - 1 }{5} ,0, \frac{1}{10} , \frac{1}{5} , \frac{3}{10} , \frac{2}{5} \:  \:  \:  \:  }

  • Rational numbers -- are those numbers which can be represented as p/q where  \rm{}p,q  \: \in \:  co   -  primes and  \rm{}q  \neq 0 .

  • They can be reduced as decimals (if required).

  • All mathematical operations can be carried out with rational numbers.
