Beacuse the size depends upon the number of electrons and positive charges inside the nucleus... In the given case, the size of Al3 will be less than that of Al because Al3 consist of more positive charges for the required electrons present inside the shells... So the positive charge will attract the electrons with more force, thereby decreasing its size..
