Convex lens, distance of the object from the lens = 40 cm

Explanation:

A convex lens or converging lens in one in which parallel rays of light pass through to get refracted and converge at the principal focus. The distance between the principal focus and the centre of the lens is called the focal length.

When the object is placed at 2F, the image will be of the same size. The image formed is real and inverted in nature.

Focal length of the lens is given as 20 cm.

So the name of the lens to be used is convex lens.

Distance at which the object needs to be placed in order get an image that is equal in size = 2F = 2 * 20 = 40 cm
