The slant height and base diameter of a conical tomb are 25 m and 14 m respectively. Find the cost of white-washing its curved surface at the rate of Rs. 210 per 100 m².

Slant Height of the conical tomb, l = 25 m

Diameter of the conical tomb , d = 14 m

Radius of the conical tomb , r = d/2 = 14/2 = 7 m

 

Curved surface area (C.S.A) of the conical tomb = πrl

C.S.A = 22/7 × 7 × 25

C.S.A = 22 × 25

C.S.A = 550m²

Curved surface area (C.S.A) of the conical tomb = 550m²

 

Cost of painting per 100 m² = ₹ 210

Cost of painting 550m² = (550 × 210) / 100

= 55 × 21 = ₹ 1155

Hence, the cost of white-washing its curved surface is ₹1155.

To find:

The cost of white-washing its curved surface at the rate of Rs. 210 per 100 m²

Solution:

Radius= r

= d/2

= 14/2

= 7m

We know that the Curved Surface Area of cone =

\pi \times r \times l

= 22/7 *7 * 25

=550m²

Now, cost of white washng 100m²

=Rs210

So, cost of white washing 550 square meters=

(550×210)/100

=Rs 1155

Hence, cost of white-washing the curved surface area of the conical tomb at the rate of Rs. 210 per 100 m² is Rs 1155.
