The y coordinate of point P is 4 if slope of a parabola y=3x² -11x +10 at a point P is 7

Given:

  • Parabola y = 3x² -11x + 10
  • Slope at point P is 7

To Find:

  • The y coordinate of point P.

Solution:

y = 3x² -11x + 10

Step 1:

Find derivative

dy/dx = 6x - 11

Step 2:

Equate derivative with 7 as slope is 7 at point P

 6x - 11 = 7

=> 6x = 18

=> x = 3

Step 3:

Substitute x = 3 in y = 3x² -11x + 10 to find y derivative

y = 3(3)² -11(3) + 10

y = 27 - 33 + 10

y = 4

Hence, the y coordinate of point P is 4
