Explanation:

The small intestine of a lion is shorter in length than that of a deer because of the following reasons:

  • Lion is a carnivore obtaining nutrients from meat , whereas deer is a herbivore and obtain nutrients (especially cellulose) from plants.
  • Meat is comparatively easier to digest due to presence of peptidase proteins in the intestine of lions.
  • However , carnivorous animal can't digest cellulose
  • Herbivores (ruminants) have longer intestine (4 chambered) for complete digestion of cellulose obtained from plants.

Hence ,The small intestine of a lion is shorter in length than that of a deer.
