Because these tigers carry the genes which have made them adapt to particular environment during the long process of elblution.if these tigers be extinct then genes of survival would be also extinct.

Small populations are at risk of extinction because:

  1. Lesser opportunity of finding the mate.
  2. Interbreeding that leads to interbreeding depression & degeneration.
  3. Increased threat to Survival because of habitat destruction & environmental changes.
  4. Fewer recombinations & less variability & hence lesser adaptability to changing environment
