Hii friend,

Let the greater Number be X.

Then the smaller Number be 2/3 X.

According to question,

2X/3 + X = 120

2X + 3X = 120× 3

5X = 360

X = 360/5

X = 72

Greater Number = X = 72

Smaller Number = 2X/3 = 2 × 72/3 = 2 × 24 = 48

HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU..... :-)

assume greater number to be X
so smaller will be
 \frac{2}{3} x
x + \frac{2}{3} x = 120
taking LCM
 \frac{3x + 2x}{3} = 120
so
3x + 2x = 120 \times 3
5x =360
X = 360 ÷ 5
X = 72

larger number = 72
smaller number = 48

sum of them 72+48=120
