QUESTION::

Is smallest factor of number itself?

ANSWER ::

No, the smallest factor of any number is not itself.

Factors are the numbers which when multiplied makes the given number. It means if it is asked the factors of 12 then it's factors will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 because

  • 2 × 6 = 12
  • 1 × 12 = 12
  • 3 × 4 = 12

So, like this we can identify the factors but the smallest factor of any number is 1 since it is divisible to all numbers and the largest factor of any number is the number itself. As by example given above the smallest factor is 1 and largest factor is number itself i.e. 12.

∴The smallest factor of any number isn't the number itself.
