the smell of hot sizziling food reaches us several meters away however it is not so in the case when food is cold because solid diffuses at very slow rate. but if the temperature of the solid is increased then the rate of diffusion of the solid particles in the air increases. this is due to increase in the kinetic energy of solid particles.
