the snail cannot run fast in straight line .why?

because the snail has a slimy and sticky body which prohibits it from doing so

The snail doesn't move in straight line ever.If you ever observe the motion of snail,it always moves in undefined path.It can move in curves, it can move vertically up,in corner that means any irregular line other than straight line

This is because , snails have a lining of mucous on their stomach .This mucous reduced friction between the surface on which the snail is moving and the stomach of the snail.So that the snail can easily glide over surface but due to slippery surface , it reduces the speed of a snail.Thats why snails move at a very slow speed.
