the snow on mountains do not melt all at once because for for the melting of ice a large amount of latent heat is absorbed from the atmosphere and the surroundings, hence all the ice cannot be melted at once.

Answer:

Snow on mountains does not melt all at once due to high specific latent heat of fusion (= 336000 J kg^-1).

Explanation:

▪︎When it gets heat from the sun, it. slowly changes to water .

* If latent heat would have been low, all the snow would have been melted in a short time .

* On getting much heat from the sun, there would have been a flood in the rivers .

■ KEY POINT : The ice (or snow) due to HIGH SPECIFIC LATENT HEAT OF FUSION , it slowly changes to water.

I hope that it may helpful .
