X = 6
Y = 4

SOLUTION :-

By substitution method :-
x + y = 10....(i) \\  \\ x - y = 2......(ii) \\  \\ from \: equation \: (ii) \: we \: get \\  \\ x - y = 2 \\ x = 2 + y \\  \\ putting \: this \: in \: (i) \\  \\ x + y = 10 \\ 2 + y + y = 10 \\ 2y = 10 - 2 = 8 \\  \\ y =  \frac{8}{2}  = 4 \\  \\ obtaining \: x \\  \\ x = 2 + y = 2 + 4 = 6 \\  \\ hence \\ x = 6 \\ y = 4

By Elimination method :-

x + y = 10.....(i) \\ x - y = 2......(ii) \\  \\ adding \: (ii) \: and \: (i) \\  \\ x + y = 10 \\ x - y = 2 \\  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  \\ 2x \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = 12 \\  \\ x =  \frac{12}{2}  = 6 \\  \\ obtaining \: y \:  \\ x + y = 10 \\ y = 10 - x = 10 - 6 = 4 \\  \\ hence \\ x = 6 \\ y = 4
