$⟶$ x + y = 70 ----------(2)

Substracting the eq.(1) from the eq (2)

$⟶ \: \: \: \: x \: + \: y - (x - y) = 70 - 10 \\ \\ ⟶ \: \: \: \: \cancel{x} \: + \: y \: - \cancel{x} + y = 60 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\⟶ \: \: \: \: 2y = 60 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ ⟶ \: \: \: \: y = \cancel\frac{60}{2} = 30 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:$
