ANSWER:

  • Value of x is 2
  • Value of y is -1

GIVEN:

  • 2x - y = 5
  • 5x - y = 11

TO FIND:

  • Value of x and y.

SOLUTION:

=> 2x - y = 5 ....(I)

=> 5x - y = 11 ...(ii)

Subtracting eq (i) from (ii)

=> (5x-y)-(2x-y) = 11-5

=> 5x-2x = 6

=> 3x = 6

=> x = 6/3

=> x = 2

Value of x = 2

Putting x = 2 in eq(i)

=> 2(2)-y = 5

=> 4 - y = 5

=> -y = 5-4

=> -y = 1

=> y = -1

Value of x is 2

Value of y is -1

Answer:

2x -y = 5 ........(1)

- 5x -y = 11 ........(2)

(-) (+) (-)

_________

3x = 6

x=6/3

x=2

substituting x=2in equation (1)

2x-y=5

2×2-y=5

4-y=5

-y=5-4

-y=1

y=-1

(x,y) =(2,-1)
