The solution set of the inequation 3x < 5 when x is a natural number is {1}

Given :

The inequation 3x < 5

To find :

The solution set of the inequation 3x < 5 when x is a natural number is

a. {1,2}

b. {1}

c. {4}

d. {0, 1}

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given inequation

Here the given inequation is 3x < 5

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the required solution set

\displaystyle \sf{ 3x < 5 }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x < \frac{5}{3} }

Since x is a natural number

∴ x ∈ N

Now the natural number less than 5/3 is only 1

So the required solution set is {1}

Hence the correct option is b. {1}
