Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 3y = 4 ...(i)

6x + 9y = 17 ...(ii)

eq^n (i)× 3 ⇒ 6x - 9y = 12

eq^n (ii)     ⇒ 6x + 9y = 17

                    12x  = 29

                  ⇒  x   =  29/12

Putting the value of x in eq^n (i)

   2 × 29/ 12 + 3y = 4

  ⇒ 29/ 6 + 3y = 4

 ⇒ (29 + 18y)/6 = 4

 ⇒ 29 + 18y = 24

 ⇒ 18y = 24 - 29 = -5

 ⇒ y = -5/18
