The sound from an insect is produced when it vibrates its wings at an average rate of 500 vibration per second
a) What is the time period of the vibration?
b) If the amplitude of vibration get doubled what would happened with the loudness of the sound?

Explanation:

a) Time period of the wave is defined as the reciprocal of the frequency of the wave.

That is, T= 1/ f

= 1/ 500 = 0.002second.

b) Loudness depends on the square of the amplitude of the wave.

That is, loudness ∝(amplitude)²

Thus, when amplitude of the wave is doubled, the loudness becomes four times.

c) Mosquito vibrates its wings at an average rate of 500 vibrations per second. Therefore, the frequency of the sound is 500 Hz. Yes, we can hear this sound . As we know that human can hear sound from range of 20Hz to 20000Hz .

hope it helps you
