Speed of sound is directly proportional to its frequency, with constant wavelength.

so,

\frac{speed of sound wave 1}{speed of sound wave 2} = \frac{Frequency of sound wave 1}{Frequency of sound wave 2}

\frac{speed of sound wave 1}{speed of sound wave 2} = \frac{512}{256} = 2 \\\\ speed of sound wave 2 =\frac{speed of sound wave 1}{2}

∴ The answer is (A) half as great
