The insects make sound by beating their wings. They make high pitched sound and this is irritating for our ears. We feel discomfortable when we her high pitched noises. That is the reason why sound of insects make us close our years.

The sounds of crickets ( insects) make us close our ears because , the frequency and pitch of their sound is high. The frequency of sounds of cricket is in ultrasonic range that is nearly 20,000 Hz . so, we are unable to hear the sound. so sounds of the cricket make close our ears.
