The sound of thunder is heard 30 seconds after seeing the lightning flash. Given that the speed of sound is 330m/s,estimate the distance at which lightning could have occurred?

We know that the speed of light is more than the speed of sound in air, so we always see the lightening first and heard the sound later .

distance = speed × time 
              = 330×30
              = 9900 m
              = 9.9 km
