The Indian Constitution is known as the "Bag of the Borrows" because it has adapted several features from different constitutions. The provision of basic rights etc have been inspired by other constitutions.

However, it is argued that despite adaptabilities the historical, geographical, cultural and traditional characteristics of India were kept in mind. With further amendments, the Indian constitution was transformed into an unique constitution.
