- Option (D) Chloroplasts is the right answer.
Chloroplasts:
- Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments responsible for capturing the light energy that is necessary for photosynthesis.
- The chloroplasts are therefore known as the kitchen of the cell.
- It captures the energy from sunlight , converts it and stores it in the energy-storage molecules ATP and NADPH while freezing oxygen from water in plant and algal cells.
- Then they use the ATP and NADPH to make organic molecules from carbon dioxide in a process known as the Calvin cycle.
- Chloroplasts carry out a number of other functions, including fatty acid synthesis, much amino acids synthesis, and the immune response in plants.
- Chloroplasts like, mitochondria , contain their own DNA, which is to be inherited from their ancestor-a photosynthetic cyanobacterium that was engulfed by an early eukaryotic cell.
- Chloroplasts cannot be made by the plants cell and must be inherited by each daughter cells during cell division.
