The speed of a boat in still water is 24 km/hr
and the speed of the .stream is 8 km/hr. It
takes a total 20 hours to row upstream from
point X to Point Y and downstream from
Point Y to Point Z. If the distance from X to Y
is one third of the distance between Y and Z.
What is the total distance travelled by the
boat (both upstream and downstream)? in
KM

Answer:

Speed of the stream 8km/hr

speed of boat 24km/hr

speed of boat in upstream 24-8 = 16km/hr

speed of boat in downstream 24+8 = 32 km/hr

time taken to cover upstream is

20 hr = x/16

distance of upstream = 20×16 = 320 Km

upstream = 1/3 of downstream

downstream = 3× 320= 640km

distance traveled is 640+320= 960 km

Answer:

960 km

Explanation:

Speed of the stream 8km/hr

speed of boat 24km/hr

speed of boat in upstream 24-8 = 16km/hr

speed of boat in downstream 24+8 = 32 km/hr

time taken to cover upstream is

20 hr = x/16

distance of upstream = 20×16 = 320 Km

upstream = 1/3 of downstream

downstream = 3× 320= 640km

distance traveled is 640+320= 960 km
