Answer:

AP:- 45, 93, 141, 189......upto 15 hrs

a=45

d=93-45=48

n=15

An=a+(n-1)d

An=45+ (15-1)48

An=45+ 14x48

An=45+ 672

An= 717

therefore, the total distance travelled in 15 hours is 717km

Answer:

Total distance = 1305 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Speed of the bus increases by 3 km ever one hour
  • Distance travelled in the first hour = 45 km

To Find:

  • Total distance travelled in 15 hours

Solution:

We know that,

Speed = Distance/Time

Hence,

Speed in the first hour is given by,

Speed = 45/1 = 45 km/hr

Given that speed increases by 3 km  every hour

Hence speed in the successive hours is given by,

45, 48, 51.......

Now we have to find the total distance travelled in 15 hours.

For that we have to first find the speed at the 15th hour.

Since this follows an A.P, 15th term is given by,

a₁₅ = a₁ + 14d

a₁₅ = 45 + 14 × 3

a₁₅ = 45 + 42

a₁₅ = 87

Hence the speed at the 15th hour = 87 km/hr.

Now we know that,

Distance = Speed × Time

Substitute the data,

Distance = 87 × 15

Distance = 1305 km

Hence the total distance covered is 1305 km.
