Ratio = speed of Car /speed of van = 3/4
=> distance travelled by car = distance travelled by van = d
=> Time taken by van = t
=> time taken by car = ( t+2400 ) [ 40min = 2400 sec ]
=> Speed = distance / Time
=> Ratio d / ( t + 2400 ) /d / t =3/4
=> Ratio = d X t / d X ( t + 2400) = 3/4
=> Ratio = t / (t + 2400) = 3 /4
= 4t = 3t + 7200. (by cross multiplication )
= 4t - 3t = 7200
= t = 7200 seconds ( 120 min )
