Given:-

  • Mass of car ,m = 1500kg

  • Initial velocity ,u = 36km/h

  • Final velocity , v = 72km/h

To Find :-

  • Change in momentum

Solution:-

Firstly we convert the unit of speed

Initial velocity = 36×5/18 = 10m/s

Final velocity = 72×5/18 = 20m/s

Now ,

→ Change in momentum = Final momentum- initial momentum

→ ∆p = mv -mu

Substitute the value we get

→ ∆p = m (v-u)

→ ∆p = 1500× (20-10)

→ ∆p = 1500 ×10

→ ∆p = 15000kgm/s

The rate of change of momentum is 15000 kgm/s.
