Let :

  • Speed of c = v km/ min
  • Distance of journey = x

Given :

  • Speed of A = Twice speed of B
  • Speed of B = Thrice speed of C
  • Time taken by C = 48minutes

To find : time taken by A

Formula used : Distance = Speed × Time

Solution :

For C,

speed = v km/min

time = 48 minutes

distance = x

=> x = v × 48 km .... equation 1

Given that speed of B = 3× speed of C

=> Speed of B = 3 × v km/min

=> Speed of B = 3v km/min ....... equation 2

Also

Speed of A = Twice speed of B

Speed of A = 2 × (3v km/min)

Speed of A = 6v km/min

For A ,

speed = 6v

distance = x

time = t ( let )

x = (6v km/min) × t

Putting value of x from equation 1, we get;

48v km = (6v km/min) × t

 \sf \implies \: t \:  =  \dfrac{48v \: km}{6v \:  \frac{km}{min} }  \\  \\  \sf \implies \bold{ \: t \:  =  \: 8 \: min}

ANSWER : Time taken by A = 8 minutes
