Given :- The speed of a moving object is determined to be 54km/h.

To Find :- This speed is equal to

a. 15m/s

b. 10m/s

c. 5m/s

d. 20m/s

Solution :-

we know that,

  • 1 km = 1000 m
  • 1 hour = 60 minutes .
  • 1 minute = 60 seconds .
  • 1 hour = 60 * 60 = 3600 seconds .

so, Let speed of object is 1 km / h . we can say that,

→ In 1 hour an object cover = 1 km

or,

→ In 3600 seconds an object cover = 1000 m

then,

→ In 1 second the object will cover = (1000 / 3600) = 10/36 = (5/18) m

then,

→ Speed of object = 1 km/h = (5/18) m/s .

therefore,

→ 1 km/h = (5/18) m/s

→ 54 km/h = (5/18) * 54 = 15 m/s (a) (Ans.)

Remember :-

  • converting km/h to m/s = Multiply speed by (5/18) .
  • converting m/s to km/h = Multiply speed by (18/5) .

SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

The speed of a moving object is determined to be 54km/h. This speed is equal to

a. 15 m/s

b. 10 m/s

c. 5 m/s

d. 20 m/s

EVALUATION

Here it is given that a body is moving with 54 km/hr

1 km = 1000 meter

1 hour = 3600 seconds

We have

\displaystyle \sf{ 54 \: \: km /hr }

\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{54 \times 1000}{3600} \: \: m /s }

\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{54 \times 10}{36} \: \: m /s }

\displaystyle \sf{ = \frac{540}{36} \: \: m /s }

\displaystyle \sf{ = 15 \: \: m /s }

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is a. 15 m/s
