Answer:

The speed of the stream is 0.5 km/hr.

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed of swimmer in still water = 2 km/hr

Swimmer swims from B to A in = 5 hours

Swimmer swims from A to B in = 3 hours

Therefore, the speed of the stream = ?

Time taken to travel upstream = t2 hr = 5 hr

Time taken to travel downstream = t1 hr = 3 hr

Speed of a man in still water = x km/hr = 2 km/hr

Speed of the stream = y km/hr = ?

          y (t2 + t1)

x = _____________

          t2 − t1

       y (5 + 3)

2 = -----------------------

           5 - 3

8y = 2 x 2 = 4

y = 0.5 km/hr

So, the speed of the stream is 0.5 km/hr.
