Step-by-step explanation:

The above question was the formula of:-

distance=speed×time

all the units in the above formula must be in their same units .

so the given values are

speed =1240km/he

time= 3 hrs 20 minutes= 3*1/3=10/3hrs.

so now the new unit are ready for operation.

applying the distance,time and speed formula:-

we get-

  • distance =1240×10/3km

=413•3333×10

=414•33×10

=4•1333×10to the power 3 , which is a scientific notation...

\sf\huge\bold{Answer:}

Given :

speed of an airplane = 1240 km/h

Time=3hrs20min

To find :

Distance covered by plane

Solution :

\fbox{Formula used :}

 \tt\red{ :⟶distance = speed \times time}

Speed=1240km/h

Time=3hr+20min

[1min=1/60hr]

=3hr+(20/60)hr

=3hr+⅓hr

=3⅓hr

Inserting values in formula :

 \tt\ :⟶d =  \big(1240\times 3 \frac{1}{3}  \big)km\\

Converting mixed fraction into improper fraction

 \tt\ :⟶d =  1240 \times  \frac{3 \times 3 + 1}{3}  \:  \:  \: km\\

\tt\ :⟶d =  \big(1240 \times  \frac{10}{3}  \big)km\\

\tt\ :⟶d =  \big(  \frac{12400}{3}  \big)km\\

 \tt\ :⟶d = 4133.33...km

 \tt\ :⟶d ≈ 4133.3km

Distance covered by plane is 4133.3km

Converting distance in scientific notation

 \tt\ :⟶d = 4133.3 \times \frac{1000}{1000} \\ \:

 \tt:⟶d=4.1333\times 10 {}^{3}

 \tt:⟶d=4.13\times 10 {}^{3}

 \tt\purple{d=4.13 \times 10 {}^{3} }

Distance covered by plane is 4.13×10³ km
