Given: The speed of the light in a diamond is 1,24,000 km/s, the speed of light in air is 3,00,000 km/s

To find the refractive index of the diamond

Solution:

We know,

Refractive index of the medium =

Speed of light in air/Speed of the medium in air in air

⟹Refractive index of diamond = 300000km/s / 124000km/s

                                                      = 300/124

                                                      =2.4
