The speed of light in water is 2.25x108m/s and that of glass is 2x108m/s .Calculate the refractive index of glass with respect to water?

Speed of light in glass (vg)=2.25x108m/s

Speed of light in water (vw)=3×10^8m/s

Refractive index of Glass with respect to water is written as

ng/nw

The formula for refractive index is,

n=c/v

Refractive index and speed are inversely proportional

ng/nw=vw/vg

ng/nw=2.25/2=1.125
