Statement : The speed of release of an object does not depend on the mass of the object.
To check : statement is true or false.
solution : let an object of mass m kg starts to fall from a tower of height h m.
initial velocity of the object, u = 0
acceleration acting on the object , a = -g m/s² [ negative sign indicates that acceleration due to gravity acting downwards (along the centre of earth) ]
now using formula, v² = u² + 2as
here s = -h [ ball is falling from the top of tower if we assume top of tower is frame of reference then, distance travelled by object is -h ]
so, v² = 0 + 2(-g)(-h)
⇒v = √(2gh)
here you see velocity of object depends upon height but doesn't depend upon the mass of it.
Therefore the given statement is true.
