Distance travelled is- 25,500 m.

Time taken is- 75 seconds.

Speed is calculated by the formula-

S= D/T

S is speed, d is distance and t is time.

Speed of sound in water is 1500 ms⁻¹

Time taken 17 seconds

Distance covered will be-

D= s*t

D= 1500*17

D= 25,500 m.

Speed of sound in air is 340 ms⁻¹

Distance travelled 25,500 m.

Time taken is-

T= d/s

T= 25,500/340

T= 75 seconds.

Thus, distance travelled by sound signal in water in 17 seconds is 25,500 m and time taken by sound signal in air to travel the same distance is 75 seconds which is equal to 1.25 minutes.
