Explanation:

First dist covered in water

Time = 2 secs

distance = speed \:  \times time

Now, ...

distance = 1600 \times 2  \\ = 3200meters \\  \: or \: 3.2 \: km

Similarly for ii, ...

Distance =

350 \times 5 = 1750 \: meters \\ or \: 17.5 \: km

Distance sound will cover in water in 2 seconds = 3.2km

Distance sound will cover in air in 5 seconds  =  1.75 km

Explanation:

The speed of sound in air = 350 ms–1

The speed of sound in water = 1600 ms–1

(i) Distance sound will cover in water in 2 seconds = speed * time

Speed = 1600ms–1

Time = 2 s

Distance = 1600 * 2 = 3200 metres = 3.2 km

(ii) Distance sound will cover in air in 5 seconds

Speed = 350 ms–1

Time = 5 s

Distance = speed * time = 350 * 5 = 1750 metres = 1.75 km
