The spring and the metal strips used in a torch help us to complete its electric circuit that also has the bulb and the cells as its essential parts, it is only when the circuit gets completed that the cells are able to send an electric current through the bulb and make it glow. What is true for the working of a torch is something that is true in general. If we take a close look at any arrangement in which an electric current is flowing, we will find that it always forms a closed path.

a. What is meant by an electric circuit ?

b. Name and draw the essential parts of an electric circuit

c. Name the two types of circuit.

Answer:

1.electric circuit, path for transmitting electric current. An electric circuit includes a device that gives energy to the charged particles constituting the current, such as a battery or a generator; devices that use current, such as lamps, electric motors, or computers; and the connecting wires or transmission lines.

2.Every circuit is comprised of three major components:

3.There are two types of circuits found in homes and other common devices; namely series circuits and parallel circuits

4.REGULATOR - A device which controls the flow of current or voltage in a circuit to a certain desired level. RELAY - An electrical coil switch that uses a small current to control a much larger current.
