Let the triangle be ABC. By

applying Pythagoras Theorem:  (AC)2 = AB2 + BC2 .

We know that the all the sides of the squares are equal and at the same time the area of a square is s2(where s is any side). Hence area of the square formed by the hypotenuse will be equal to the sum of the areas of the squares of the other two sides.
