The perimeter of an object is the total scalar distance around the object.

So for a square which has four equal length sides we can say that if one side is of length 12.35 cm then the total length right around the object (ie the perimeter of the square) is four times one side.

Perimeter of a square = 4 x [one side length]

Aside …

Also note that 1 cm = 1 centimetre = 1/100th of a metre. A metre is the Système International (SI) unit for distance or metric unit.

For imperial measurement as used in USA, 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Also, 12 inches = 1 foot (plural ‘feet’).

Continuing …

Perimeter of a square with side length of 12.35 cm = 4 x 12.35 cm = 49.4 cm = 19.45 inches (rounded to two decimal places) = 1.62 feet.

For further study, the vector distance (ie displacement) of the square perimeter is zero centimetres because displacement is a vector which takes into consideration the end points (ie starting and ending positions) or overall direction from start to finish.

PS: Don’t forget your units in your answer, else your answer is useless. A nice marker/teacher may give you half marks without the units, but I’d give you zero marks.

Finally, I will leave you argue over the proper spelling of centimetre or centimeter. However, if you just use ‘cm’ then everyone is happy - both the Americans and the Australians.
