GIVEN

The square of a number is equal to that number

TO DETERMINE

The number

CALCULATION

Let x be the number

Then by the given condition

 {x}^{2}  = x

\implies\displaystyle \:  {x}^{2}  -x  = 0

\implies\displaystyle \: x(x - 1) = 0

We know that if product of two real numbers are zero then either of them are zero

So

either \:  \: x = 0 \:  \: or \:  \:  \: x - 1 = 0

So

either \:  \: x = 0 \:  \: or \:  \:  \: x  = 1

RESULT

 \red{ \fbox{THE REQUIRED NUMBER ARE 0 , 1}}
