let \: no. \: be \: x \: and \: x + 1

there \: sq. \: are \:  {x}^{2}  \: and \: (x + 1 {)}^{2}

the \: diff. \: is \: 36

 =  > (x + 1 {)}^{2}  -  {x}^{2}  = 36

 {x}^{2}  + 2x + 1 -  {x}^{2}  = 36

 \cancel{x}^{2}  + 2x + 1 -    \cancel {x}^{2}  = 36

2x + 1 = 36

2x = 36 - 1 = 35

x =   \cancel\frac{{35}}{2}  = 17.5

so \: the \: no. \: are \: 17.5 \: and \: 18.5
