Answer:

1.02 sq m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given The square piece of material with sides 150 cm and used to make a circular table cloth . the diameter of the completed cloth must be 1.2 m and 5 cm provided for a hem. How much material is wasted?

We need to calculate the area of material that has square shape.

S = a^2 = (1.5)^2

           = 2.25 m^2

We need to calculate area of circular cloth. So we must add 0.05 m on each side to provide material for hem.

S = 1/4 π (diameter + 2 x hem)^2

 = 1/4 x 3.14 x (1.2 + 2 x 0.05)^2

 = 1.33 m^2

S = 2.25 m^2 – 1.33 m^2

S = 0.92 m^2

Given :

the square piece of material with sides 150cm and used to make a circula table cloth . the diameter of the completed cloth must be 1,2 m and 5 cm provided for a hem.

To Find :

How much material is wasted?

Solution:

Side of square piece material = 150 cm

Area of square piece =Side^2 = 150^2 =22500 cm^2

Now we are given that the square piece of material with sides 150cm and used to make a circular table cloth

Diameter = 1.2 m 5 cm

1 m = 100 cm

1.2 m = 1.2 \times 100 = 120 cm

So,Diameter = 120+5=125 cm

Radius of cloth =\frac{125}{2}=62.5 cm

So, area of circular cloth =\pi r^2 =3.14 \times 62.5 =196.25

Material wasted = 22500-196.25=22303.75 cm^2

Hence 22303.75 sq.cm.material is wasted.
