The question is “The square root of a number plus two is the same as the number. What is the number?”

This is a badly phrased question. The expression can be expressed either as:

sqrt(x)+2==x or sqrt(x+2)==x

There isn’t an answer to either.

4 seems like an answer to the first, but ONE of the square roots is -2 which clearly doesn’t satisfy the conditions.

2 and -1 seem possible candidates too - but again, the square root of (2+2) can be -2, and the square root of (-1 + 2) can be 1.

In both cases, a singular number is expected.
