The treaty of seringpatam was fought in 1799 in the fourth Anglo Mysore war. An army led by Charles, Cornwallis consisting of British East India company and British army forces, along with along with allied forces of Marathas and Nizam of Hyderabad arrived at seringpatam on 5 February 1792 and after less than three weeks of battle and seige, forced tipu to capitulate and with his agreement to treaty of seringpatam in 1792, this war came to an end. Now British took two of tipu's sons as hostage. The British annexed half of his kingdom and gave Mysore to royal family and Tipu sultan died fighting.
