the standing wave in a medium is expressed as y= 0.2sin(0.8x) cos(300t) m . the distance between any two consecutive points of minimum or maximum displacement is

1)pie/2 m

2) pie/4 m

Distance between maximum and minimum displacement is equal to the half of wavelength.

Therefore, first we need to calculate the wavelength, and then we can calculate Distance between maxima and minima.

∴ Comapring the given equation with,

y = ASin(kx)Cos(wt)

we get, kx = 0.8x

∴ k = 0.8

∴ 2π/λ = 0.8

∴ λ = π/0.4

Now, distance between maxima and minima = π/0.8

Hence, there is no such option. Hence correct answer is none of these.

Hope it helps.
